God is still speaking today. He isn’t in the heavenly’s completely disconnected from humanity. The beautiful thing about God is He is all about 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱. The way He speaks isn’t always the same. He knows how to communicate to each one of us in a unique way so we can understand.

Before we even try to hear His voice for ourselves we first must know 𝘄𝗵𝗼 He is and 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 He is like. The Bible and reading about Jesus’ life is the best way to get those answers. Jesus states, when we see Him, we’ve seen the Father(𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯 14:9) The more we understand His nature, the better we are at discerning His voice in our day to day lives.

I wanted to highlight one of the many ways God speaks to us, which is 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦. I point this one out because so often we want God to speak in a thundering voice where we can’t help but be interrupted. I believe He can and does do this from time to time but most often it’s the still small voice. He doesn’t use His power to overpower but instead gives us an opportunity to choose.

The whisper allows us to 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘶𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘮 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬.

When someone speaks softly, it’s an invite to quiet our hearts and to lean in so we can hear. Clinging to every word to ensure we don’t miss a thing.

This is so beautiful to me. Not only does God want to speak to us but He would desire for us to listen and 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘥.

I love this reminder in James 1:8, when we draw our hearts closer to God, He responds and draws His heart closer to 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀! That thought alone should cause our hearts to melt and come with expectation.

Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t feel like you hear God. I’m here to encourage you, YES you do! You just might need to turn down the 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 to other things and tune into Him. Don’t just take my word for it, it was a promise from Jesus Himself. John 10:27, Jesus says His followers will have the ability to 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 Him. His voice is loving, gentle, encouraging, and full of life-giving truth. I pray you will be aware of His presence in your everyday life and begin to pursue Him in a new way.
